Spam tide rising…

Over the last few days I have noticed the amount of spam being blocked by my servers and local machines has increased markedly. Unfortunately this also means that the number of suspect mails reaching my in tray has also risen pretty sharply as the filters try to keep up with the latest nonsense.

I can only remind you to make sure you have a decent anti-virus solution installed on your own machine as well as suitable anti-spyware defences. Perhaps more importantly, these tools are all fully updated.

While you are at it, be sure to check that whichever operating system you use is fully updated with the latest patches and enhancements. This is easy to overlook unless automatic updates are enabled, check it now as some spyware/malware turns the automatic facility off – which can get very nasty…

Changing Themes

I think I have settled on a theme called Greyeen for this blog. It’s taken a while to find something suitable and even then there’s a bit of tweaking to do to get it looking the way I like it. Fortunately as I have chosen to use WordPress for the site, I’m not short of theme choices or tutorials on how to modify them.

There’s still a way to go with Greyeen as I’d really like those ads over on the right hand side to be aligned centrally in the

. Should be a simple tweak but, for the moment, I can’t find the relevant section in the css file. I’ll take a look at it later…
